Imogen & Matt – Scottish Destination Wedding in France

Imogen and Matt, 16th July 2016 at Chateau de la Motte Beaumanoir, Brittany France.

“We had a Scottish Celtic handfasting wedding in the grounds of a French chateau surrounded by 87 guests. Living in Paris at the time, we chose Brittany because of the Celtic connection. Our outstanding officiant, Scot, took the train all the way from Inverness to create a magical ceremony for us in French, English and Gaelic. Matt and I wanted a wedding that was vegetarian, vintage or locally produced and waste-free, but we refused to compromise on style. Fortunately, our exceptional planner Nancy from Fete in France worked to bring our personal vision to life. It was black tie glamorous, but we served vegan food paired with rare organic wines, used flea-market sourced decorations, and our florist Bloomette only used locally grown wild flowers. We wanted our wedding to feel inclusive, so our ceremony was in a circle and called on our guests to bear witness. Instead of favours, we spent months writing 7000 words of handwritten thank you notes for each of our guests to find under their dinner napkin. I read Love My Dress religiously while planning our wedding, and the beautiful individuality and stories inspired us to think hard about creating a celebration that truly reflected us.”
